Barraza's second home run of the season led off the bottom of the fifth inning. It looked to be just the lift the Loggers (4-8, 1-4 NWC) needed as AJ Morioka followed with a single, but Puget Sound's next three batters were retired in order.
Owen Shellhammer was fantastic in this three innings out of the bullpen. He allowed just two hits and struck out six batters.
Mason Quinlan finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate.
Puget Sound 5, George Fox 7
Despite facing a five-run deficit in the ninth inning, Puget Sound nearly rallied to beat the Bruins, but the Loggers came up short, 7-5, in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.
AJ Moriokoa led off the home half of the ninth inning with a double to left field, then Hunter Riley drew a walk and Kyle Strash was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Mason Quinlan took advantage of the big opportunity and smacked a two-run single up the middle. Corey Roberts followed with a sac fly to score Strash, but that was the Loggers' final run.
