TACOMA, Wash. -- Five members of the baseball team earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, showing their strength both on the field and in the classroom.
The CSC recognizes scholar-athletes who are of sophomore year standing or higher who carry a 3.5 GPA, and also play in 75% of games throughout the year. For pitchers, athletes have to make 17 appearances, or pitch at least 35 innings.
Senior biochemistry major,
Cal Johnson, was efficient as a starting pitcher for the Loggers, finishing the year with an ERA of 6.24. In 49.0 innings pitched, Johnson struck out a team-high 54 batters, with letting in 3 earned runs or fewer in eight of his eleven outings.
Junior biochemistry major,
Preston Crockett, was efficient on both sides of the plate. The everyday shortstop for the Loggers batted .256 with 11 extra-base hits, 21 RBIs, and a fielding percentage of .946. Crockett also made four appearances on the mound, starting three games for Puget Sound. He pitched in 7.0 innings, striking out three for the Loggers.
Junior Business Leadership Major,
Charlie Deggeller, finished with the second-highest batting average on the team. He batted .321, leading the team with a .443 OB% and 45 hits. Playing centerfield for the Loggers, Deggeller was named to the All-Northwest Conference Third Team for his performance in 2026.
Sophomore Business Leadership Major,
Matt Churchill, was a force to be reckoned with. While batting .259, Churchill drove in 45 RBIs on 13 home runs, 7 doubles, while also getting walked 22 times. He was the lone Logger to finish on the All-NWC First Team.
Junior Business Leadership Major,
Charlie Decker, wraps up the honorees for the CSC Baseball Academic All-District Award. The Loggers' ace had a 4.83 ERA on the season, picking up 6 wins for Puget Sound. In 69.0 innings of work, Decker struck out 45 batters, and had nine games with three or fewer earned runs. This included his first career complete game against Pacific on April 11th.
The Loggers finished their season T-3rd in the Northwest Conference, making the NWC Tournament for the second time in as many years.
