McCluskey's Goal Lifts Loggers Over Boxers

Box Score

TACOMA, Wash. – Vincent McCluskey tapped home the game-winner in the 70th minute as the Puget Sound men's soccer team defeated Pacific 1-0 on Saturday. Chris McDonald made two saves for his fourth shutout of the year.

The Loggers (5-3, 4-1 NWC) earned an 8-7 shot advantage with a 4-2 advantage on shots on goal.

McCluskey's game winner came on an assist from Terence Blackburn. With the ball on the far sideline, Blackburn found McCluskey in the six-yard box. McCluskey promptly lifted a shot over the diving Michael Summers to put the Loggers up 1-0. Summers made three saves in the match.

David Shull fired away three shots for the Boxers (2-7, 2-3 NWC), including one on goal, but the Boxers couldn't sneak one past McDonald. McDonald ran his career shutout total to 16 – just two shy of fourth all-time.

The Loggers remain home tomorrow to welcome George Fox for a 2:30 p.m. math in Baker Stadium.
