MCMINVILLE, Ore. -- The Loggers break a four-game winless streak, beating Linfield 4-1 on their final road game of the season.
How it Happened
The Loggers scored two goals in each half en route to beating the Wildcats, starting off the game with a goal in the 11th minute.
Rhys Foote found Alozo Flores-Barajas, who scored the opener early on in the match. That started a flurry of shots, as the Loggers then took five shots in a 13-minute span.
Jackson Smith forced a save in teh 17th minute, winning the Loggers a corner kick. Flores-Barajas then took a shot on goal, which was saved, and then put the rebound off the post in a near-miss second goal scoring opportunity. Yet another Flores-Barajas shot was saved in the 23rd minute, as he just kept piling them on goal.
The Loggers struck again in the 33rd minute, as
Leif Anderson got in on the action. Flores-Barajas dribbled up the left side of the box, firing a shot on goal. The Wildcats' keeper saved it, as Anderson was there to punch the ball into the net. The rest of the half fizzled out, as
Luke Mamiya made a final save to keep a first-half clean sheet.
The Loggers did a good job of sitting and defending the rest of the game, as Linfield started to go on the attack.
Owen Pschigoda broke the scoring drought, finding the back of the net following a mishap by Linfield's keeper. Just three minutes later, the Wildcats bounced back with a goal of their own, but the Loggers had more in the tank.
Smith, just under three minutes after the Wildcats' goal, scored to seal the deal. He received the ball, took several dribbles, then fired a shot from deep into the top left corner of the goal. Mamiya made one more save just after, as the Loggers win this one 4-1.
