Steve Mohn is entering his third season as head coach of the men's soccer team for Puget Sound Athletics in 2026. A prominent figure in the Tacoma soccer community, Mohn joins the Loggers after a successful decade-long stint as the head coach at Highline College.Â
The 2025 season saw competitive play as the team finished fifth in the Northwest Conference with a 7-7-5 record. Individual accolades for the most recent season included a First Team selection for Rhys Foote and a Third Team selection for Kody Carmel.Â
In his inaugural season in 2024, Mohn led the Loggers to a record of 6-5-8. That year, six scholar-athletes earned Northwest Conference honors with Liam Elliott's First Team selection, while Ryan Saunders and Rhys Foote were named to the Second Team. Pema Globus, Kody Carmel and Jackson Smith represented the program with honorable mentions.Â
During his 10 years leading the Highline Thunderbirds, Mohn compiled a remarkable record of 118-28-18. His time was marked by significant postseason success, including three NWAC Championships captured in 2014, 2017 and 2021, which eventually led to his induction into the NWAC Hall of Fame in 2024. Mohn also serves as the head coach for the Tacoma Stars, a role he has held since 2019, leading them to three WSL championships.Â
Mohn's deep ties to the region began as a standout athlete at Thomas Jefferson High School, where he was a four-year letterwinner in soccer and led his team to a South Puget Sound League championship in 2003. His collegiate career included time at Pacific Lutheran University and Highline Community College, where he was named NWAACC North Division MVP after a 17-goal season. He later transferred to the University of Washington, notably scoring his first goal for the Huskies in a 2006 NCAA tournament win over Santa Clara. After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from UW in 2008, Mohn competed professionally for the Kitsap Pumas and the Seattle Sounders FC U23 teams, experience that continues to inform his leadership of the Puget Sound men's soccer program.Â
