TACOMA, Wash. -- The Loggers fight to a hard-earned draw against last year's NWC winner, taking a point from cross-town rival Pacific Lutheran.
How it Happened
The first half was well-played by the Loggers, as they got off to a solid start. A corner kick in the fourth minute spurred some pressure on the Lutes' backline, and the Loggers were able to get some early chances. Another corner kick in the ninth minute led to a shot by
Kate Short, missing just left of the goal.
The Loggers' best chance of the day came on a set-piece opportunity in the 20th minute.
Hayden Goodman sent a ball into the box, finding the head of short in the penalty area.
Leila Hausia-Haugen came in clutch, as she was wide open on the back post to send the ball into the back of the net.
Later in the first half, back-to-back shots by
Ella Oetinger and
Maya George put pressure on PLU's goalie, but the score remained 1-0. The Loggers ended the first half up a goal, looking to be in good shape heading into the second half.
The Lutes were able to respond, tying the game in the 56th minute. The Loggers weren't done yet, as they still had several good opportunities. A shot by
Zoe Witter in the 58th minute showed that the Loggers weren't down and out. A back-and-forth final couple of minutes ended with neither team scoring, and the score ended at one apiece.

Hausia-Haugen was the top offensive performer this evening, notching 3 shots, two on goal, and a goal.
