TACOMA, Wash. -- After dropping their match to Linfield yesterday, Puget Sound bounced back well with a big 2-1 win over Pacific.
How it Happened
The Loggers started on the defensive foot to begin the game, defending two corner kicks in the first five minutes.
Luke Mamiya and the Puget Sound back line performed well, not giving the Boxers a chance at a goal.
Taj Fadool recorded the only two shots in the first half, including a shot on target in the 26th minute. The first half ended 0-0.
The halftime adjustments worked really well for the Loggers, peppering two shots in the first four minutes out of halftime. In the 50th minute,
Vinny Self found
Rhys Foote, who headed it down to Fadool to open the scoring. Just three minutes later, a foul in a dangerous area gave Foote a good chance to go for goal. He capitalized on the opportunity, riffling the ball into the top left corner to put the Loggers up 2-0.
Smart play highlighted the rest of the game, as the Loggers kept the ball moving around the Boxers. A free kick in the 63rd minute led to an impressive goal by Nico Lomanto, pulling Pacific within one. The team was able to hold on, pulling out the 2-1 victory.
