PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Loggers complete the weekend sweep with a 2-0 win over Lewis & Clark.
How it Happened
Leila Hausia-Haugen was the star of the show, picking up two goals, including one just three minutes into the match.
Mazy Wright got the game started, firing a shot that was saved by the Pios' keeper. Hausia-Haugen then drew a penalty kick, converting to put the Loggers up 1-0 early in the match.
Despite being up a goal, the team was hungry for more. They kept pummeling shots, both on and off target, for a total of 10 in the first half.
Gianna Maldonado also made a couple of great saves in the 18th and 29th minutes, keeping the sheet clean in the first half.
The second half started with a pair of corner kicks. While the Loggers didn't convert the chances into goals, it was a positive sign that the team was still on the front foot. Some good defense and ball control were the highlights of the second half, as both sides started to battle for control of the game. Hausia-Haugen put the final stamp on the game, scoring her second of the day with less than four minutes left in the game.
The Loggers did a great job taking care of business this weekend, setting them up for a must-win match against Pacific Lutheran on Wednesday. If the Loggers win, they will jump into first place and control their destiny for a shot at going to the national tournament.
