Softball Senior Day moved to Friday when Loggers host PLU

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound softball team celebrates its five seniors when the Loggers host Pacific Lutheran for a doubleheader Friday, April 14, at 2 p.m. The doubleheader was initially scheduled for Sunday, but it was moved in an effort to stay ahead of the weather.
 
Five for fighting

Following Friday's games, Puget Sound celebrates five seniors: Kendall Gantz, Mikayla Newman, Lauren Rice, Hailee Ueyama, and Savanna Smith.
 
They can hit
Puget Sound has four starters who are hitting over .300 this season: Savanna Smith (.360), Emily Moore (.353), Jessica Moore (.341). and Hailee Ueyama (.313). As a team, the Loggers are hitting .272. It stands as the program's second-best team batting average the past 10 years (Puget Sound hit .286 in 2021).
 
Who's gonna drive you home
Savanna Smith has a team-high 21 RBI this season, and she is poised to lead the Loggers in RBI for the third consecutive year.
 
Hailee goes yard
Hailee Ueyama hit her second-career home during a suspended home game against Linfield last week (April 8). The doubleheader against the Wildcats will continue at home Tuesday, April 18.
 
Gantz sets personal mark
Kendall Gantz had a career-high three hits in a game at Pacific (April 2). Her .265 batting average this season currently stands as a single-season career best for Gantz.
 
Scouting Pacific Lutheran (23-13, 15-9 NWC)

The Lutes enter this weekend with three consecutive wins, and five wins in their last six games. They're the second-best hitting team in the NWC (.316), and the they have the second-most home runs (48). Kennedy Kila as 12 of those home runs, while Erin McGrath and Paola Garcia both have nine. In the circle, Cassidy Conrad as thrown a team-high 111.1 innings, and she has a 3.84 ERA.
