Brett Harvey spun a gem to lead the Puget Sound baseball team to doubleheader wins over Willamette at Logger Field Saturday.

Batting from the leadoff spot,
Drew Kamihara was Puget Sound's catalyst in its 6-4 win over the Bearcats.

Kamihara began the bottom of the first inning with a single, and then
Dylan Joyce and
Makana Murashige each followed with a base hit to load the bases.
Gabe Huante knocked in the game's first run with a single up the middle, and
Jack McCullar drove in three runs with a double to deep center field.

Kamihara hit an RBI single in the sixth inning, and he later came in to score on a hit from Joyce. Kamihara finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate.

Davis Franklin improved to 5-1 on the mound after allowing only two earned runs through 6.0 innings. Joyce locked down his fourth save of the season.

Puget Sound 3, Willamette 1
Brett Harvey worked a career-high 8.0 innings as the Loggers sealed a series win with a 3-1 victory over Willamette.

Harvey allowed only five hits and didn't walk anyone as he improved to 4-0 on the season. He established his presence early by retiring six consecutive batters to begin the game. For the season, batters are hitting just .219 against Harvey.

Harvey's lone blemish was a solo home run allowed in the fourth inning, but the Loggers bats had his back in the sixth.

Cody Hirano and
Drew Kamihara hit consecutive two-out singles, and
Dylan Joyce put the Loggers on the board with a single to center.

The next batter,
Makana Murashige, ripped a two-run double to give the Loggers a 3-1 edge.
Â
Willamette put two runners on base in the ninth inning, but Joyce induced a double play and then ended the game with a strikeout for his second save of the day.

The Loggers and Bearcats finish their series Sunday, March 19, at 12 p.m.
