SALEM, Oregon – The Puget Sound lacrosse team jumped out to an 8-2 lead, but Willamette came back to beat the Loggers in sudden-death overtime, 12-11, Sunday afternoon.
Puget Sound held a six-goal lead through the first 17:30 of the game.
Abby Stranahan scored the game's first goal, and added a her second goal in the final minutes of the first quarter.
Emily LaRivere also scored twice during the Loggers' 8-2 run, and
Cat Schilli scored three times in that time frame.
The Bearcats scored four of the game's next five games, but Stranahan netted the final goal of the first half to give the Loggers a 10-6 lead.
Schilli scored the Loggers' only goal of the second half off an assist from Stranahan. Willamette scored four unanswered goals to send the game into overtime, and it scored the game-winner with two minutes left in overtime.
Stranahan and Schilli tied for the team-lead in scoring with four goals, and Stranahan added three assists.
Milan Lam finished with a goal and two assists.
The Loggers continue their conference schedule at Whitman, March 4.
