McMINNVILLE, Oregon – Savanna Smith had her best game of the season in the circle, but the Puget Sound softball team narrowly lost to nationally-ranked No. 13 Linfield, 2-0, Friday evening.

Smith allowed only one earned run in a six-inning complete-game effort. She struck out five and allowed only four hits.

The Wildcats scored both of their runs in the first inning. Smith completely shut the door in the ensuing five frames. From the second through sixth inning, Smith allowed only two hits. At point she retired nine consecutive batters.

The Loggers managed three hits in the game, two of which doubles by
Kelsie Sullivan and
Emily Moore.

The Loggers lost the first game of Friday's doubleheader, 13-0 (5 inn.).
