Second-half surge lifts Loggers over Whitworth

SPOKANE, Washington – The Puget Sound lacrosse team dominated the second half to claim its third consecutive win with a 14-9 victory at Whitworth Friday afternoon.

The Loggers were down by a goal at halftime, 8-7, but Puget Sound outscored the Pirates in the second half, 7-1. 

Ali Walker's third goal of the game was the first of the second half, and it tied the game at eight-all. Three minutes later, Hannah Bushing gave the Loggers a two-goal lead, and Walker scored again less than two minutes after that. Hannah Nichols also scored twice in the second half for Puget Sound. 

The Loggers blanked the Pirates in the second half until there was less than three minutes left in the game. 

Walker scored four goals, in all. Nichols, Bushing, Laren Mastin, and Jenna Kisner each scored twice.

Charlotte Donnelly made 11 saves on 20 attempts in the winning effort.

The Loggers played at Whitman Saturday, April 20, at 1 p.m.
