TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound lacrosse team held a halftime lead, but fell to Alma, 12-11, on Tuesday afternoon.    

Haley Schuster led the Loggers (1-1) with four goals. Ella Frazer had three goals and two assists, while also recording six draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Roxanne Krietzman had two goals, and Meghan Bacher and Marcella Heineke each chipped in a goal.  

The Loggers controlled the game in the first half, scoring the first four goals, and holding an 8-2 lead at the break. After Schuster scored the first goal in the second half, Alma (1-1), scored five consecutive goals, including three-straight by Shelby Frazer. A Bacher goal stemmed the tide temporarily, but the Scots would score five-straight on the way to their first lead of the game, at 12-10. Frazer scored with 30 seconds remaining to narrow the gap to one goal, but Alma would hold on for their first victory of the year.  

Kreitzman had four draw controls, while Heineke scooped a game high eight ground balls and caused five turnovers. Izzy Amaya had three ground balls and caused four turnovers.

The Loggers will next travel to Linfield when they open their Northwest Conference schedule. The game, on Sunday, March 5, is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
